Continuing Education Requirements
The continuing education requirement for all North Carolina licensees is 8 hours per year. Cosmetologists may complete the 24 hours of continuing education any time within the cosmetologist's three-year licensing cycle. No licensee shall receive credit for course duplication completed during the licensing cycle. Estheticians and manicurists must complete courses in their subject area. The education provider shall submit to the Board, within ten days after completion of each course, an attendance list of licensees who completed the course.
Please note that when we report your credits to the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners, there is a two-step process which they have put in place that may delay the actual posting of your credit for up to 3 weeks. All hours is sbmitted every Friday unless you register(ed) for the C.O.E. EXPRESS.
COSMETOLOGIST MAY TAKE 12 HRS. THROUGH INTERNET-ONLINE-CORRESPONDENCE PER THREE YEAR LICENSEE PERIOD . THE OTHER 12 HRS. MUST BE TAKEN ON SITE.
MANICURIST MAY TAKE 4 HRS. ONLINE/CORRESPONDENCE PER LICENSEE PERIOD. THE OTHER 4 HRS. MUST BE TAKEN ONSITE.
ESTHETICIAN MAY TAKE 4 HRS. ONLINE/CORRESPONDENCE PER LICENSEE PERIOD. THE OTHER 4 HRS. MUST BE TAKEN ONSITE.
TEACHERS / INSTRUCTORS MAY TAKE 8 HRS ONLINE/CORRESPONDENCE PER TWO YEAR LICENSEE PERIOD. THE OTHER 8 HRS MUST BE TAKEN ONSITE.
As of June 27,2007 CE Exemption: All Cosmetologists with 20 years of consecutive licensure are exempt from the continuing education requirement.You may contact the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Arts at:Mailing Address
