Course Objectives:

Upon the completion of this class the student will be able to:

  1. Define the risks of HIV transmission in the barbering profession;
  2. Understand the scope and depth of HIV/AIDS;
  3. Recognize disease states and symptoms of HIV infection;
  4. Discuss the transmission and oral manifestations of AIDS;
  5. Recite current statistics of the emergence of HIV/AIDS transmission and diagnosis;
  6. Recall the modes of transmission of HIV/AIDS;
  7. Identify workforce implications;
  8. Understand disinfection and sanitation procedures;
  9. Identify clinical management and prevention procedures for barbers; and
  10. Recognize barbering workforce risk factors associated with HIV/AIDS.
